What is covered on the Subject Test in Math Level 2?
The SAT Subject Test in Math Level 2 focuses on advanced material covered in math courses including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry courses. According to the ETS, the company that writes the test, the following topics are covered:
- Plane Geometry (Euclidean)
- Solid Geometry
- Coordinate Geometry
- Statistics and Sets
While the topics are the same as on the Level 1 test, the focus of the Level 2 test is on advanced concepts within each of these topics. Additionally, there is a higher proportion of questions on advanced topics in geometry and trigonometry (such as conic sections, trigonometric functions and graphs, and trigonometric identities).

Our manuals undergo a rigorous development process with multiple revisions to make sure Excel Test students receive a top-notch product. With hundreds of pages filled with sample questions and detailed explanations, the custom-designed manuals forms the foundation of the Excel Test SAT Subject Test in Math Level 2 course from which our teachers draw out ideas to help students masters the skills necessary to ace the test.
Should I take Level 1 or Level 2?
The most important factor in deciding between the two exams is college requirements. Some colleges will require that students take the Level 2 exam; others will not specify. Students who have taken (and done well in) pre-calculus/trigonometry courses are qualified to take the Level 2 test. Those who are considering taking the Level I exam to score higher may want to think about which topics are fresher in their minds. Students applying to study disciplines that are more scientifically or mathematically oriented may also want to strongly consider taking the Level 2 exam as well in order to demonstrate proficiency with higher-level mathematics.
